Officers

Bill Mayo
 
William Mayo is chair of the Ascentria board of directors. He brings a background spanning multiple industries, broad international experience, a deep understanding of technology and a strong strategic orientation.

Through his work with Strategic Partners Group, he has built a successful track record consulting for a number of small biotech firms. While at Biogen, Bill was instrumental in preparing the clinical and commercial supply chain for several new drug launches. He also brings extensive senior business leadership experience in global consumer products from Gillette and Procter & Gamble.

Bill serves as a steering committee member and liaison to the College of Computer and Information Science at Northeastern University’s Venture Mentoring Network. He has been recognized by CIO magazine as a Rising Star and as a Premier 100 IT leader. He received both a BS in computer and information science and an MBA in business from Northeastern University.

Bill is a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Quincy, where he lives with his family. His goal is to bring the creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and discipline from his career experiences to the work of Ascentria, for the benefit of all our clients. He also seeks to build collaborative opportunities between the for-profit and non-profit sectors.
 
M. Balinskas
 
Michael Balinskas is vice chair of the Ascentria board of directors. He is the general manager of PowerHawke, Inc. and the director of Business Development with McPhee Electric, Ltd.

Mike first became associated with Ascentria through serving on the Good News Garage subsidiary board. He is the chairman of the Berlin, CT Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, and is currently the president of the Bethany Lutheran Church Council. Mike also is a member of the Greater Middletown Chorale where his sings bass, and is a member of the Northeast Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.

He received a bachelor of science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, MA in mechanical engineering and thermodynamics, and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Hartford, CT.
 





 
Garth H. Greimann is financial secretary of the Ascentria board of directors. He is a leader in the Boston business and financial community and a past chair of the Ascentria board of directors.

Currently, Garth is a senior advisor with Berkshire Partners. Prior to joining Berkshire, he spent 12 years in domestic and international commercial banking, primarily with The First National Bank of Boston. He earned a BA from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.

Karen L. Gaylin is secretary of the Ascentria board of directors. She was a human resource professional for 15 years in the financial services, high tech and healthcare industries. Most recently, she was an HR partner with Lifeline Systems Company, a division of Philips Electronics NA.

Karen previously served on the Ascentria governing board from 1993 to 2000 and was president of the board from 1997-2000. She has been active as a volunteer/board member for various cultural and social services organizations in Massachusetts, Virginia and California over the past 20 years. Karen earned a BA degree in economics and art history from Wellesley College.

Kenneth B. Bohlin is the president and CEO of Informa USA, which includes the North American assets of Informa plc, the UK-based business, professional and academic information group. During his 30 years with Informa, Ken has had lead responsibility for building Informa’s US business and has also served on Informa plc’s executive board as well as several of Informa’s subsidiary boards.

Ken previously served on the advisory board of the Lutheran Healthcare Center and the LSSNE Foundation board. He is a long-standing member of the Leadership Council of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, has been actively involved in fundraising efforts for organizations such as the World Cancer Research Fund, and has served on the boards and volunteered with various other charitable organizations and foundations.

Born in Worcester, MA, Ken graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and has spent his career working in the financial information industry.

 
Angela Boville
 
Angela Bovill  is president and CEO of Ascentria Care Alliance. She joined the organization in 2008 as chief financial officer, was named chief operating officer in 2011, and became president and CEO in January 2013.

Before joining Ascentria, Angela was general manager of digital services for IDEXX Laboratories, where she worked for 17 years in business development, mergers and acquisitions, and turnarounds. While at IDEXX, she created and launched two new service lines, and turned around a new business acquisition from a major loss to the most profitable in the company.

Angela graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern Maine, majoring in economics, and earned an MBA with honors from Boston University. She has completed multiple executive education programs, including at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza School of Business and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

As president and CEO of Ascentria, Angela has led a transformation of the nonprofit – streamlining, rebranding and changing the model of care to be more human-centered and partnership-focused. With a new vision, name, strategy and leadership team, Ascentria is leading the human services sector in innovation and holistic care.
 
Pastor Ross Goodman served Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Quincy, MA for ten years before being called to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Arlington, MA in 1996. He also consults with Children’s Hospital Chaplaincy, assists the New England Synod with various projects, maintains standing as a Fellow with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and serves on the board of Bethany House of Prayer. 

Pastor Goodman and his wife have provided a loving home to five children through the Ascentria Unaccompanied Refugee Minors program. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University, Princeton Theological Seminary and the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He received a Doctor of Ministry from Andover Newton Theological School in 1995.
 


 
Scott Hamilton has an extensive business background in finance, operations and general management. For many years, he was a vice president and general manager at IDEXX laboratories, an animal health company headquartered in Westbrook, ME. He also served as a CPA for an international accounting firm and held financial leadership positions in multiple industries during his 35-year career. Scott earned a BA degree in Administrative Science and Mathematics from Colby College in Waterville, ME.

Currently, Scott is focused on providing leadership to various nonprofit organizations. In addition to board of directors and finance committee responsibilities at Ascentria, he is a member of the board of directors of Jobs for Maine’s Graduates and serves on the finance and program committees at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine. 
 
Jeff Kinney
Jeffrey P. Kinney is the immediate past chair of the Ascentria board of directors and has been a board member since 2006. He currently manages a team of corporate bankers with Wells Fargo in Boston.

Over a 30 year career, Jeff has held similar positions with Wachovia, Fleet Bank and First National Bank of Chicago. He earned a BA from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH and an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago. He previously sat on the board of the Greater Hartford Arts Council and is a current member of the board of The Boston Rescue Mission 
and is a partner with the Boston chapter of Social Venture Partners.

Barbara J. Ruhe, attorney and adoptive parent, is an expert in family and juvenile law with over 36 years in the field. She is a champion for men and women who are victims of domestic violence, and children who are physically, emotionally or sexually abused. Much of her time is spent in court litigating, and working with clients to obtain needed services.

Barbara provided legal counsel to Lutheran Child and Family Services of Connecticut from 1988 to 1993. She is a graduate of Valparaiso University Law School in Valparaiso, IN, and a member of the Connecticut Bar since 1976.
 
Kimberly Salmon has a 20 plus-year career in developing and leading major fundraising events and capital campaigns for such organizations as YMCA of Central Massachusetts, the American Heart Association and Two Ten Footwear Foundation. In her current role as director of community relations at Fallon Health, Kimberly is responsible for leading Fallon Health’s corporate giving programs, community outreach and volunteer efforts, sponsorships, fundraising, and educational events. On behalf of Fallon, Kimberly serves on the Worcester Department of Public Health’s Prevention Wellness Trust Grant Executive Committee. She also leads Fallon’s efforts in conducting a Community Health Assessment (CHA) in partnership with the Worcester Department of Public Health and UMass Memorial Health Care to drive a comprehensive Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). 
 
Kimberly earned a degree from Newbury College and was recognized as one of the Worcester Business Journal’s 40 under 40 in 2007. As a lifelong advocate, Kimberly continues to raise awareness and funds for vulnerable and underserved populations. 
 
Dan Strelow Dan Strelow is director of the Customized Solutions Group, vice president, and portfolio manager at Eaton Vance Management in Boston. He joined the Ascentria board of directors in 2015, having started his association with Ascentria as a volunteer on its Performance and Quality Improvement Advisory Board.

Dan has a strong Lutheran background, with a grandfather and five uncles who served as pastors in Lutheran churches across North America. He attended Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Washington, where he graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Economics.

While working at First Chicago Investment Advisors, Dan earned an MBA from University of Chicago's graduate school of business, and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He later moved to Boston and worked for State Street Research and Management Co. in various capacities for 17 years. In 2005 Dan joined Eaton Vance in his present role, where he also serves as a member of the firm's Asset Allocation Committee.

Dan and his wife Marie live with their four children in Winchester, Massachusetts.

The Reverend James E. Hazelwood was elected bishop at the 2012 annual assembly of the New England Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He had served as pastor of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Charlestown, RI since 1993.

Bishop Hazelwood’s contributions include 25 years of mission and community focused parish ministry including Faith in Action and Neighbors Helping Neighbors initiatives to connect volunteers with the needs of under-resourced persons. He earned a master of divinity degree from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA and a doctor of ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.

The Reverend Timothy Yeadon has served as president of the New England district - Lutheran Church Missouri Synod since he was elected in June of 2012. Prior to being elected as president of the New England district, he had served his entire ministry of 28 years as pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Hartford, CT. He is married to Ruth, and they have two grown sons, Jonathan and Dan.
