Language Bank Named a Finalist for the 7th Annual Classy Awards

Worcester, MALanguage Bank was named a top 100 finalist for the 7th Annual Classy Awards. The Collaborative is a unique three-day experience that brings together top social innovators from around the world. Classy, the world’s leading online fundraising platform for social enterprises, has hosted this event for years in San Diego and recently expanded the footprint into Boston’s Innovation District. This year’s event will take place June 13-15, 2017.
 
Language Bank is a fee-for-service social enterprise that trains and employs refugees and other new Americans as language interpreters. Language Bank customers include hospitals, courts, schools, for-profit businesses, and other organizations. Language Bank is a member of Ascentria Care Alliance a multi-service nonprofit that resettles new Americans, so it has unique insight into the future language needs of its customers, as well as a pipeline of loyal and dedicated interpreters. Language Bank's social goals are to empower limited english proficient people to be able to make their own choices as they navigate the legal and healthcare systems, as well as help these institutions provide the best quality care possible. Language Bank will also continue to employ qualified refugees as interpreters.

Finalists were selected based on their scale and scope of the problem, an innovative approach, ability to solve the problem, and organizational effectiveness. , Ten winners from the 100 finalists will be chosen by the Classy Leadership Council and announced on stage at the awards ceremony in June.
