Good News Garage Receives Worksite Wellness Award

April 2, 2019 Vermont Business Magazine
Good News Garage, the car donation nonprofit based in Burlington, Vermont, is the recipient of a 2019 Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness Silver-Level Award. The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports presented the award to Good News Garage’s assistant director of operations, Amy Barcomb, at the 2019 Worksite Wellness Conference on March 21, 2019.

“We aim to cultivate a culture of health and wellness for our employees, for both those based in our Burlington office and those working remotely across the state,” said Barcomb. “To support these values, we offer our employees a robust wellness program that helps them enhance their physical and mental well-being and promotes a healthy work-life balance.”

Good News Garage’s wellness program, named Living Well, runs on an annual basis with structured activities and workshops during the entire year. Ascentria Care Alliance, the parent organization of Good News Garage, organizes this program with the help of a volunteer committee. Every year, the Living Well program revolves around a different theme. The 2019 theme is, “Journey to Mental Well-Being.” Activities so far this year have focused on connecting with others and taking care of your spirit.

“Our staff really looks forward to these activities,” said Barcomb. “They’re good for team building, but even more importantly they help us improve ourselves and the way we interact with the world around us.”
