Ascentria Care Alliance and SNAP-Ed have partnered to offer a free cooking and nutrition class at Oxford Place Wednesday, August 14. The event is open to West Springfield Housing Authority residents, as well as the community at large from 11:15 am - 12:15 pm in the Oxford Place Community Room, 37 Oxford Place.

Nauset Interfaith hosted 6 of our refugee families (14 children and 7 adults) this weekend for the Refugee Welcoming Weekend at Cape Cod. The families enjoyed a Sharks & Seals ranger talk, canoeing at Salt Pond, and ice cream. The weekend wrapped up with a a potluck supper hosted by the Community of Jesus in Orleans with about 60 people enjoying food & fellowship. Our refugees led the group in song, and David from Liberia gave a heartfelt thank-you speech. Every September, the President sets the refugee admissions goal for the coming fiscal year. Last year, the President set the goal at a historically low 45,000 refugees who could be resettled in Fiscal Year 2018. Meanwhile the need for refugee resettlement has never been greater, and it continues to grow. Now is the time for state and local elected leaders to take a stand and urge the President to resettle 75,000 refugees in the coming fiscal year.  Read more
