Ascentria offers a variety of state-funded and private-pay non-medical, non-clinical mental health services that support those with mental health challenges ranging from group therapy to residential care.


Adult Community Integration/Case Management
Services available in Androscoggin, Franklin, Kennebec, Oxford, Somerset and Waldo counties
Wrap-around case management services increase a participant’s access to and engagement with their community. Support services include:
  • Access to resources in communities (transportation, food banks, city funding, housing resources, etc.)
  • Access to medical resources (primary care physician, specialists, medical supplies, etc.)
  • Mental health support includes counseling, in-home services, self-help groups, etc.
  • Personal case management customized for individual needs.

Adult In-Home Support Services
Services available in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin and Oxford counties
  • Focused on recovery-based services to help clients improve their function with daily living tasks, social skills, community connection and crisis /symptom management.
  • Services offered to individuals diagnosed with mental illness in the comfort and familiarity of their homes.
  • Overall health and wellness along with a reduction in hospitalization visits are the primary goals for each participant.

Adult Residential (Private Non-Medical Institution) Services
Services available in Androscoggin County
  • 24/7 supervision and support in a residential setting for individuals diagnosed with chronic and persistent mental illness.
  • Participants are encouraged to develop and maintain daily living skills, effective and healthy strategies for symptom management and positive social skills.
  • Comprehensive services are coordinated with hands-on staff support in homes accommodating no more than four residents.

Developmental Disabilities Services

Ascentria Developmental Disabilities programs focus on each person’s talents and gifts while supporting opportunities for personal growth and achievement.

  • Allows the person to achieve greater independence.
  • Staff support is focused on health and safety, daily living skills and active community involvement for the individual.

Adult Shared Living Services

Services available in Androscoggin, Cumberland and York Counties
  • Local families open their homes to individuals with disabilities and receive a stipend in return.
  • Participants are provided opportunities for self-determination, participate in community activities and receive individualized services.
  • The participant is given the beneficial opportunity to experience a typical family lifestyle with a local Maine family.
  • Designed to provide people with disabilities a positive and meaningful life.

Adult Residential Services
Services available in Androscoggin, Cumberland and York counties
  • Participants receive support tailored to their specific needs working toward as much independence as possible.
  • 24/7 supervision and support for individuals diagnosed with a developmental disability.
  • Residential homes generally house two to four individuals.
  • Each individual has their own unique goals and the staff works with the individual to achieve regular milestones, emphasizing health, safety, daily living skills and community involvement.
Deaf Services
Services available in Cumberland and York counties
  • Support for deaf people with developmental disabilities.
  • Residential, in-home support and shared living programs.
  • A majority of our Deaf Services staff are deaf themselves and all staff are fluent in American Sign Language and/ or Visual Gestural skills.
