Ways to Help Youth in Foster Care

Whether you support youth in foster care by becoming a foster parent, or by talking about foster care, there’s a way for everyone to support youth across Ascentria!

Become a Foster Parent

Ascentria is in need of caring adults who are willing to open up their hearts and homes as foster parents. To take the first step, contact us.

Become a Friend of Foster Care

Subscribe to our Friends of Foster Care newsletter to learn more about how you can help youth in care.

Donate a Wish List Item

When you donate an item through our Amazon wish list, you are helping support a youth who might be moving into their first apartment, a new mom who needs baby supplies, or a student heading off to college for the first time.

Volunteer

Mentor or tutor our refugee youth, create a job training internship, provide a ride. We are open to new and creative ideas!

Help with Education

You can help support a young adult as they pursue their educational goals! Your gift will help Ascentria offer scholarships and assistance with school supplies.

Diomande Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2017 in memory of a former Unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM) client who was truly committed to his education, but unfortunately passed away due to illness before he was able to achieve his goals of graduating high school and pursuing further education.

In this client’s memory, annual scholarships are awarded to youth in the URM Program in support of their educational dreams and pursuits. Applicants must be a current URM client with a concrete plan to pursue further education or training after high school, either at a college or vocational training program. Applicants must also demonstrate strong academic potential, commitment to achieving their education goals, and a financial need related to the cost of attending their educational program of choice.
