Ascentria Care Alliance is deeply concerned by the Senate’s passage of President Trump’s proposed legislation. There is nothing beautiful about a bill that will cause an estimated 20 million people to lose healthcare and other support services, force rural hospitals to close and cut food assistance to millions.
This bill delivers deep cuts to essential lifelines; not just for the most vulnerable, but for working families, older adults, children, and entire communities across New England. The impacts of reducing support for basic needs will be felt broadly and deeply. This legislation raises serious concerns about the long-term well-being and stability of our communities.
We are especially grateful to the Senators who stood firm against the sweeping bill—those who upheld their moral duty, listened sincerely to their constituents, and showed unwavering courage and integrity in the face of pressure.
Their leadership reflects the values at the heart of our mission.
As the bill moves to the House of Representatives, we urge all lawmakers to carefully consider the consequences of this legislation and to center the voices of those most directly affected. The stakes are high, and the potential impact on human lives is profound.
We call on members of the House to reject this legislation and instead pursue policies that protect health, promote stability, and honor the dignity of all individuals.
Now is the time for moral courage. The people of New England are counting on it.
