As Ukraine refugee crisis grows, volunteers and officials in Massachusetts prep for new arrivals

NEEDHAM, Mass. —

More than 4 million Ukrainians have fled their country since fighting broke out in February, and another 7 million have been displaced inside Ukraine. Chronicle spoke with volunteers in western Massachusetts, including Ukrainian-Americans, who are preparing for the eventual arrival of refugees and packing up supplies for those who have been forced to flee their homes.

As one of the largest human service organizations in New England,

Ascentria Care Alliance has served as a refugee resettlement agency for refugees from more than 30 countries and offers a continuum of services for refugees and immigrants in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
